Sod InstallationSo, you decided to have sod installation completed in Wellesley or Needham, MA because you learned that Fall is the season to do it! Cataldo Landscape and Masonry doesn’t blame you. When the time is right, the time is right! We want to make sure you get your money’s worth when you install your sod, and have a few tips for caring for it before winter strikes.

Get rid of the leaves

We always talk about how leaves can quickly ruin your grass, and that is especially true for sod. Getting rid of the leaves and debris allow your sod to soak in as much nutrients as it can get, and that maintenance allows their root system to grow stronger.

Know when and how to mow

Again, the entire purpose of installing sod in the fall is to ensure a healthy growth in the Spring. The best way to prepare is to wait two to three weeks after installation before you cut your sod, and be sure that your grass is about 1 and 1 ½ inches tall.

Fertilize and water

Fertilizing your sod helps keep up with their nutritional needs during the Winter and Spring when you are unable to help and promote growth. And though watering is often forgot in fall, it’s important to ensure your soil is damp at least 5 inches below your sod.
